Batch Field Selection

Batch Field Selection is a useful feature in the NEX-Forms Builder that allows you to select and manage multiple form elements at once, streamlining the process of editing, styling, and organizing your form. This feature enhances efficiency and precision when working with complex forms.

By using the Batch Field Selection feature you can significantly enhance your form-building efficiency, ensuring that you can quickly and effectively manage multiple elements to create well-organized and visually appealing forms.

How to make a Batch Field Selection
  1. Activate a Batch Selection:
    To start batch selection, hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and click on the first field to be added to the batch selection.
  2. Select Multiple Elements:
    While holding the CTRL key, click on more form elements you wish to select. Each clicked element will be added to the selection group. You can select elements that are not adjacent to each other, allowing for flexibility in managing non-contiguous fields.
  3. Deselect Elements:
    While holding the CTRL key, click on any of the already selected elements to deselect them and removing these elements from the batch field selection.
Manipulating a Batch Field Selection
Once a Batch Field Selection have been made, you can perform various actions on these selected elements as a group.
  1. Move:
    Drag the selected group to a new location on the form canvas.
  2. Edit:
    Right Click on the selection to bring up the NEX-Forms Context Menu. Choose any of the editing options. Keyboard Shortcup = Enter

  3. Style:
    Apply styling changes, such as margins, padding, or colors, to the entire group. Keyboard Shortcup = Enter
  4. Delete:
    Remove all selected elements from the form in one action. Keyboard Shortcup = Delete
Batch Field Group (Field Type) Selection

This section explains how to select specific groups of fields. For example, if you need to apply the same style to all radio buttons or all text area fields, field group selection is the way to achieve this.

  1. Press and hold CTRL+SHIFT on your keyboard.
  2. Click on a field type, like a radio field as per the form example below.
  3. After clicking on the field type the group selection will be made and indicated with an orange border around all of the same field types inside the form.

  4. RIGHT CLICK on any of the selected fields. This will bring up the NEX-Forms Context Menu and select the editing or styling options from the menu to be applied to the field group.

Tips for Using Batch Field Selections:
  • Deselecting the entire Selection:
    To deselect elements, click outside the selection group or press the ESC key. This will clear the current selection.
  • Removing Elements from the Selection:
    To deselect specific elements from the overall selection, hold CTRL click on any of the already selected elements to deselect them.
  • Combining Selections:
    You can combine batch field selection with DragBox selection for even more efficient multi-element management. Use DragBox to select a group, then hold CTRL to add or remove specific elements from the selection.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts:
    Utilize keyboard shortcuts to perform common actions quickly, such as copying (CTRL+C), cutting (CTRL+X), pasting (CTRL+V), and deleting (Delete) on batch field selections.
